Trump Sticks With Choice for Spy Chief

U.S. President Donald Trump signaled on Thursday that he still plans to nominate Representative John Ratcliffe to be the next U.S. spy chief despite worries that Ratcliffe may have exaggerated his achievements as a prosecutor. As he left the White House for a rally in Cincinnati, Ohio, Trump was asked by a reporter whether he was concerned. “Congressman Ratcliffe is an outstanding man and I’m sure that he’ll be able to do very well,” Trump said. “Highly respected by everybody that knows him.” Ratcliffe, who would oversee the 17 U.S. civilian and military intelligence agencies, has touted his counter-terrorism experience while in the U.S. Attorney’s...

She’s such a bad Texas real estate agent that the state took her license and fined her $122k

In one of the biggest fines in its history, the Texas Real Estate Commission proved a case of negligence against real estate sales agent Ashley Elizabeth Williams Creamer. She was fined $122,000. (In this image from the regulators' website, her email address has been blurred out for privacy.) There are two women named Ashley Williams in the Dallas-Fort Worth real estate market. Let's not confuse them. One is the good Ashley Williams. The other is the bad Ashley Williams. The good Ashley G. Williams is an agent with Keller Williams Realty in the Arlington office. She's in no trouble. The bad Ashley E. Williams can be called bad because her Texas license as a real estate sales agent was...

US migrant detention centres are overcrowded and families are still being separated - Donald Trump s America - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

US migrant detention centres are overcrowded and families are still being separated Updated July 28, 2019 08:27:35 It has fake grass, a pop-up medical clinic and a soccer pitch. It sits at the end of a dry and dusty road in southwest Texas, near some old lodging that was once used by oil workers. Demountable classrooms and dorms, a marquee-style dining complex and a whole lot of portable toilets were arranged neatly along a bitumen path. Wire fencing surrounded the perimeter, dotted with "no trespassing signs". Buggies driven by staff trundled by, kind of like those at a simple resort. But of course this is not that. It is an "unaccompanied alien child centre" in Carrizo Springs, Texas. "We...

The feds still need to find out why an American was detained at the border for three weeks

Francisco Galicia embraces his mother Sanjuana Galicia at the McAllen, Texas, Central Station on July 24, 2019. Galicia, 18, who was born in the U.S., was released Tuesday, July 23, from federal immigration custody after wrongfully being detained for more than three weeks. Why did federal officials detain an American citizen from Dallas 70 miles from the border on the belief he might have crossed into the country illegally? It sounds like a bad riddle, but it's unfortunately a reality that lasted for weeks. All evidence points to Dallas as the birthplace of Francisco Erwin Galicia, who was detained at a Customs and Border Protection checkpoint in Falfurrias on June 27 on the way to a soccer...

Texas Made An Example Out Of Crystal Mason — For Trying To Vote

(Photo: Allison V. Smith for HuffPost) RENDON, Texas ― There are butterflies everywhere in Crystal Mason’s house. There’s one hanging at the base of the stairs where she bangs on the wall to get the kids up for school in the morning. There’s a small butterfly sticker above a table where her grown children’s high school diplomas are on display. There’s a butterfly hanging above her bed and small butterfly stickers on the side of her bathtub. They’re on Mason too; she has earrings and a ring in the shape of a butterfly. She has 10 butterflies tattooed on her, including several going up the side of her body, one on her left arm and two on her leg. Butterflies are everywhere because, to Mason,...

State effort to create free will forms bogs down over wording -

Several years ago, you mentioned in an answer that the Texas Supreme Court was working on free, do-it-yourself will forms. What is the status of these forms? I can’t find them. In 2015. the Texas legislature passed Senate Bill 512, which stated that “the Supreme Court shall, as the court considers appropriate, promulgate … a simple will form” for married and unmarried persons. You can read the statute at https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov. Look for Section 22.020 of the Government Code. A task force of attorneys was appointed by the Court to work on the new forms, but it is difficult to create forms that are simple to use, understandable by non-attorneys and work in...

What Are the Penalties for Cyberbullying as a Juvenile in Texas?, Pleasanton Criminal Defense Lawyer

Cyberbullying is the modern version of bullying that, unfortunately, many kids experience while growing up. This term cyberbullying includes any threats, humiliation, or harassment through the use of technology. The constant connection with smartphones and tablet or laptop computers makes this form of bullying much more serious and intense than that which existed before modern technology. Rather than just facing such harassment at school, students now have this form of bullying following them everywhere they go. The perpetrator can also remain anonymous, making it somewhat difficult to pinpoint the source of the student’s bullying. What Does Cyberbullying Look Like? Cyberbullying is...
